Context¶
We need to document the architectural decisions made for our platform to ensure consistency, to help onboard new team members, and to understand the reasoning behind our choices in the future.
Decision¶
We will use Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) to document architecturally significant decisions. We will use a simple markdown template for these records, based on the format proposed by Michael Nygard.
Consequences¶
- All significant architectural decisions will be documented in a consistent format.
- The ADRs will be stored in the
docs/architecture/adrsdirectory of our documentation repository. - There will be a slight overhead in creating and maintaining these records.
